Celebrity Inspired Wedding Looks

Celebrity Inspired Wedding Gowns (for less!)

Ok, so your favorite celebrity fashion icon wore an amazing dress to their wedding, and you totally want to wear it too! But...it's out of your budget. Or unavailable to the public. Here are alternatives to some of the most talked about celebrity wedding gowns of the past few years. Cause we can't all get a custom couture dress, right??

Reese Witherspoon

 Actual Dress: Monique Lhuillier (Custom)

This dress was probably upwards of $10,000US. It was custom created for Reese, therefore it cannot be purchased. Here are some alternatives!

Same Designer: Love Reese's look? Try "Candy" by Monique Lhuillier. The blush color and slightly fitted skirt mimics Reese's feminine, ethereal look. Try it with a dark pink satin ribbon as a belt! (Retail: Around $7,000US). Monique makes many gowns in this gorgeous blush color, love this trend!

Alternative: This gorgeous blush dress features similar beading to Monique's "Candy". This dress is called "Soledad" and is made by Watters.
This dress retails for about $4,000US.

Kate Middleton (Duchess of Cambridge)

Actual Dress: Kate Middleton's custom Alexander McQueen dress was the wedding fashion obsession of the year!! However, the $350,000 price of this gown isn't in every bride's budget. But you can still be a princess for the day!!

Available Inspiration: Monique Lhuillier's "Catherine" was actually inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge herself. The lace sleeves and chest coverage make this dress a timeless classic. Perfect for a church wedding. This dress retails at about $10,000US.

Within your budget: This dress is by Mikaella and is a gorgeous trumpet silhouette with a sweetheart neckline and lace sleeves. This is style #1808 and retails for about $2,000US.

Gwen Stefani

Actual Dress: The look of Gwen Stefani's dip dyed/ombre gown had heads turning! Perfect for the girl who wants something shocking and unique! Gwen's dress is a one of a kind Christian Dior dress designed by John Galliano.

Available Alternative:  Get the same ombre/ dip
dyed look with "Laurel" by Modern Trousseau!
This dress retails for around $4,000(US) and
is a fun way to add some color! Modern Trousseau
also makes other ombre dresses in different styles!

It may be risky, but you could always buy an all
white gown and have it dip dyed! Make sure you find
someone who is experienced in dip-dying high end
clothing - you wouldn't want your dress ruined!!

Fergie

Actual Dress: Leave it to the sultry songstress to wear something sexy, yet classic and beautiful. This custom Dolce and Gabbana gown is extremely flattering, featuring ruching and a trumpet fit. The floral appliques on the back add some interest and an element of surprise to this simple, stunning gown. But who has Dolce and Gabbana waiting to design their dress for them?

Alternative: This Bliss by Monique Lhuillier (BL1314) gown features the same ruched organza look that Fergie's did. The scoop neckline and fitted shape is sure to show off your curves in all the right places! Add some detail to the back (pins, brooches, appliques) and you've got a gorgeous replica of Fergie's gown! My accessory recommendation: Paris by Debra Moreland! This gown retails for about $3,000(US).

What other celebs had wedding gowns that you were swooning over? I'd be more than happy to help you find an affordable alternative!

Do You Need to Hire a Wedding Planner?

Do You Need a Wedding Planner? This is a question that I get ALL the time from brides: Do I need a wedding planner?  There is really no right or wrong answer to this. However, there are some factors to consider that may help you make your decision... Are you planning a wedding in a different state? If you are planning your wedding in a different state than where you live, you may want to hire a wedding planner. Planners will know the best vendors in the area, for one, and you will need recommendations in you are in unfamiliar territory. You may not have time to visit a ton of venues if you are flying in from another state, so a planner can also visit venues beforehand for you, and either Facetime you, send you photos, or tell you which venues are really worth you making an appointment with.  Your planner can also meet with vendors on your behalf if you can't make a trip right away, and often has a personal relationship with vendors as well.  Are you b...

Do Me a Favor....

The Question I Get Asked All The Time... What should we do for wedding favors? Ok, here's the deal. 99% of the time, your wedding favors are either going to be left behind, or thrown out once our guests get home. In my opinion, favors are often a waste of money! If you are looking for a place to cut costs - maybe don't do favors at all!  If you insist on giving guests a little something to say 'thank you', here are my recommendations: Make a Donation in the Guest's Name... Do you have a favorite charity? An organization that means something to you, personally? Make a small donation in each guest's name to the charity of your choice, then at each place setting, give them something in writing, thanking them for attending, and letting them know that a donation has been made in their name! Guests will appreciate this much more than a bottle opener with your name on it...I promise! Edible is Always the Answer! Something that guests ca...

Centerpieces

Centerpiece secrets...shh! Centerpieces are a huge part of your ceremony. But, they are also a huge part of your budget! There are a lot of ways to budget your centerpieces and a lot of secrets to making a statement without blowing your budget! Secret #1: Less is More Ok, so you want colorful, gorgeous centerpieces, but you want them low cost... Here's a fabulous idea! These are actually from a wedding I helped with last summer. The idea is, you are only paying for 5 flowers (gerbera daisies too which are fairly inexpensive!) but by putting them each in their own vase, you cover a lot more table and have a much larger, statement making centerpiece! You could do all the same color, all different, whatever you want! And I love the larger gerbera in the middle- really gives it some height! Here's another similar centerpiece. This features three different flowers: hydrangea, gerbera daisy, and a few mini roses. We also sprinkled some shells and sea glass on the tabl...
